Webcast description

What are the Key Success Factors for strategic conversations?

Many of us spend much of our time at work in conversation. These may be one-on-one conversations, group or client meetings, conversations on the phone, or e-conversations.

Many of the most important conversations we have professionally are ones related to long-term strategy and, as a result, profoundly impact the decisions that affect the long-term future of you as an individual, and as an organization. Often, however, these conversations get delayed or put aside altogether due to the immense pressure to deliver results in the short term — leaving the long-term health and future of an organization to fate.

To fill this gap, many organizations try to hold annual retreats or brain-storming sessions. However, these meetings also often end up dealing with operational topics or try to discuss strategic matters in an operational way that looks at the future using a short-term, more linear process. When, inevitably, they are disappointed with the outcomes, they resolve not to waste time and money again on retreats!

Strategic conversations that focus on long-term solutions, therefore, require more than just a "retreat" mentality. To be successful, these conversations must be a part of everyday life, and must use a variety of styles and forms.

This session explores the different conversation and decision-making processes and suggests ways that each organization — and each person — can improve their competency in this area. By better understanding these processes, you will be able to make more effective strategic decisions that can lead to long-term success.
