Description

The Professional Applications Reciprocity Evaluation (PARE) course focuses on integration and application of knowledge and skills in situations typically encountered by financial professionals and accountants in professional practice. The material presented will help to round out your ability to demonstrate breadth as required of financial professionals both from the perspective of a financial manager internal to the organization (such as a comptroller) or as an accountant external to the organization (such as in those in public practice providing assurance, tax, or business advisory services to an organization).

PARE is adapted from the content and materials in the CGA Professional Application (PA) courses. The PA1 and PA2 courses are offered as professional capstone certification courses in the Certified General Accountants (CGA) Program of Professional Studies.

This course has been designed to give you an overview of, and opportunity to demonstrate the professional competencies of a newly certified CGA in Canada. It focuses on material relating to strategy and strategic financial management and current issues encountered in professional practice.

The course materials are designed to

  • provide a broad overview of strategic financial management concepts and the role of CGAs in professional practice
  • illustrate the format and style of case reports and case analysis using two Practice cases provided
  • provide an opportunity to integrate, apply, and demonstrate both technical and non-technical competencies in the assignment case response submission

This course has 6 modules and is intended to be covered in approximately 15 hours. At the end of each module, there is a concept check to gauge your understanding of the material covered. In some modules, there are interactive learning activities and links to further enhance your understanding of the material. In the final module (Module 6) you are presented with two comprehensive cases with solutions. This will give you exposure to the breadth of coverage of the materials and provide a sampling of the competencies you are required to demonstrate as a newly certified CGA in Canada. You will find this helpful as you prepare to respond to the Assignment case.
